Demolition, Concrete & Construction

This 55 ton rock was an obstacle during construction of a subdivision. At 6’ high, 8’ wide and 14’ long the builder had
no machinery large enough to remove it and was unsure of thier next step. Intact removal was quoted at $8,000.00
and was not a satisfactory option due to budget constraints. Nxburst was deemed to be the best solution to break-up
the rock into managable pieces as the proximity to new homes, swarms of contractors and thier vehicles would pose
issues to conventional high explosives blasting. Using geotextile and conveyor belting to contain the rock to its
current footprint, the rock was split end to end with 1 x 40 gram and 1 x 60 gram cartridge. Larger remaining pieces
were broken with cartridges ranging from 5 gram to 60 gram for removal by on-site equipment.

When Priestly Demolition and it’s subcontractors needed to bring down a tower at a Suncor site, Nxburst was used to
perform the final failures to bring it down. Once all preparation work was complete, a section of one of the the heavily
reinforced concrete pillars was weakened using 4 x 14034 and 3 x10034 cartridges. Centrally placed within the column
and stemmed to RokLock epoxy, the blast left minimal concrete around the column facilitating it’s felling.

Tower brought down with 28mm Nonex/Nxburst cartridges in Sweden.
